8.30 Carbon Offsetting in Yorkshire. Chris Lodge (TBC), Woodland Development Officer, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust
The Woodland Carbon Code is a new standard. It provides assurance on the carbon savings made by woodlands. The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust worked on the pilot project which helped to develop this code. It gives investors (companies or individuals) the opportunity to buy the carbon rights to a woodland as a quick and simply way of addressing their own CO2 emissions. They can have confidence that claims about the amount of carbon being absorbed is backed up by the only government approved standard. In the growing carbon economy, Yorkshire companies buying offsets from Yorkshire woodlands could be a neat solution for a global problem.
If you’re interested in carbon offsetting locally, in the growing market for UK based carbon offset projects or in how you could use your land as part of this scheme, come along to find out more.

By taking action to prepare in advance for flooding, most businesses can save between 20 and 90 per cent on the cost of lost stock and movable equipment, as well as some of the trouble and stress that goes with such an event.
Learn how to find out if your business is at risk, and how to design a flood plan for your company.
